Maybe the most surprising event that happen to me this past year was receiving a call in April from Catalent (formerly Metrics), the company I retired from eight years ago. They asked if I would like to work part time and after they approved that I could go to work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I quickly accepted. There have been some changes I had to get use to, but I have enjoyed seeing some familiar faces again and reviewing manufacturing batch records as my primary job. Currently, I plan to stay employed as long as Catalent would like for me to stay.
Mary Anne Howard and I are still seeing each other in between our busy schedules and we are still finding time to dance at Loafers Dance Club in Raleigh. Mary Anne and I have enjoyed spending time watching the grandkids activities! We have enjoyed watching some of nine-year old Audrey’s dance recitals and seeing a few of seven-year old Beckett’s soccer and baseball games! They are so impressive in whatever activity they take part in; I hope to see them more next year!
I know, what about Nolan? Nolan is doing just fine! At three years old he is way ahead of the game. I’ve seen him swimming, hitting rubber baseball and golf balls, scooting around and also finding time to read some! A very active young boy!

Mary Anne and I did take a few trips close by this past year! Last year we toured the southern Outer Banks starting with Ocracoke and ending in Manteo. This year we started in Manteo and went north to Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Duck and Corolla. Yes, a beautiful trip! On another costal trip we spent time near Wilmington on Bald Head Island along with some of Mary Anne’s close friends. Bald Head is an interesting island that allows no car or truck transportation on the island; golf carts are the mode of transportation. The beaches were beautiful! A ferry will get you there!

One football stadium that I have always wanted to see a football game has been the University of Michigan Stadium, nicknamed “The Big House’. The stadium has an official capacity of 110,000. This year, by invitation, Mary Anne and I were able to see East Carolina and Michigan play a football game there! The stadium was full. No, East Carolina did not win, but the game was pretty exciting. In addition to the football game, we were able to tour interesting sites along with some relaxing time on a local lake! Yes, another fun trip!
I’m at the end of my page, so I want to wish everyone a wonderful 2024!

Keeters
Greetings, Haseley clan!
Hold on to your hats, because the Keeters have been on a rollercoaster of soccer-to-baseball switches, award-winning dance moves, and a knee surgery count that’s inching closer to superhero status. Buckle up for the hilarity and triumphs that have defined our year!
First off, Beckett decided soccer was too mainstream, so he’s officially traded in his soccer kicks for a baseball glove. Not only did he master all positions like a pro, but he also snagged the sportsmanship award for both his team and the entire league. Move over, soccer moms – we’ve got a baseball aficionado in the family!
Meanwhile, our dancing dynamo, Audrey, is still twirling away. This spring, she took the dance floor by storm, competing for the first time with her dance company. The results? Well, let’s just say her group dances and solo performance scooped up more awards than we have room to display. We’re thinking of installing a trophy room – it’s getting out of hand!
Now, we may not be jet-setting around the world (thanks, sports and dance schedules!), but we did manage to sneak in some family time at the beach and lake. paddle boarding and kayaking became our family sports of choice, and if there were awards for dramatic falls and hilarious wipeouts, we’d have taken home gold.
In the midst of all this athletic prowess, Blair remained the ECU Pirates’ most spirited fan. We’re convinced that if enthusiasm were a sport, Blair would be a champion.
And speaking of Blair, our very own COO of Yardnique, is the landscaping maestro crisscrossing the East Coast. Yardnique, a Triangle-based landscaping company, keeps Blair on the move, ensuring that lawns are perfectly manicured from one end of the coast to the other.
As for me, well, I had my fourth knee surgery. I’m not quite bionic yet, but I’ve got my eyes on that title. Maybe next year!
In the meantime, I continue to travel between California and NC for work with BPM, a San Francisco-based accounting and consulting firm. Colleague engagement, events, marketing operations and mom life keep me on my toes – and occasionally, on a plane.
As we bid farewell to a year filled with laughter, victories, and fun, let’s raise a toast to us – the family that dances, swings, and occasionally stumbles through life with style.
Cheers to more shenanigans in the year ahead!
With love (and a dash of knee braces and chaos),
The Keeters (Shelly, Blair, Audrey and Beckett)

Mike, Bre and Nolan
Greetings, dear family and friends!
As we approach the end of another eventful year, it’s time to reflect on the incredible adventures and milestones that have filled our lives. The beginning of the year was marked by joyous playtimes at playgrounds, strolls to the front of our neighborhood, and the simple pleasure of splashing in puddles—Nolan’s boundless curiosity and energy guiding our family through these memorable moments.
In the early months, Bre and Nolan embarked on a special trip to Calabash, creating lasting memories with Bre’s family. Exploring the aquarium and children’s museum added an extra sprinkle of excitement to their visit, making it an unforgettable experience for both mother and son.
As spring blossomed, so did our family’s love for outdoor activities. Strawberry picking became a delightful tradition, and Easter brought an egg hunt that had Nolan’s eyes sparkling with joy. The Shad festival in April held a special significance, as we witnessed a touching dedication to Grandma and Grandpa, reminding us of the cherished bonds that tie our family together.
Our summer kicked off with a roar as we attended Jurassic Quest in Charlotte, meeting Dino friends and immersing ourselves in the prehistoric world. The Presidents Cup in May provided us with the perfect blend of sports and relaxation, with Nolan finding pure delight in rolling down the hills as golf enthusiasts played their rounds.
June took us to the beach, where we witnessed Nolan trying his hand (or rather, his whole body) at boogie boarding for the first time. The 4th of July was a community affair, featuring our neighborhood’s annual golf cart parade, refreshing drenches from fire trucks, and a spectacular fireworks display.
July brought a significant milestone as Nolan turned the big 3! The celebration was a joyous occasion with friends, family, and classmates at Sports Connection. The summer months were filled with water fights and pool adventures, creating a refreshing backdrop to the warmth of the season.
In August, a trip to the mountains to visit Allan and Kelly’s new place added a dash of adventure. Nolan experienced the thrill of a mountain rollercoaster, tried his hand at putt putt, and even achieved his first hole in one! A stop at Tweetsie Railroad on the way home brought more joy with train rides and gem mining.
September marked Nolan’s first trip to the theater, where he watched Paw Patrol with wide-eyed wonder. As autumn unfolded, we tailgated and cheered on ECU during their first home game and attended the Panthers vs. Vikings game in October.
Halloween brought out the creativity in our family, with The Rhems donning dinosaur-themed costumes. Nolan, feeling brave, decided he was big enough for the haunted house this year and faced it with surprising courage.
Recently, Bre took a trip to Montana, leaving Mike and Nolan to enjoy some quality daddy-son time. From Nolan’s first Hornets game to a Renaissance festival with knife-throwing, jugglers, and jousting, they made the most of their special days together.
As we approach the holidays, the excitement continues to build. We look forward to spending time in New Bern with family and creating magical Christmas moments in Charlotte with visits from Bre’s parents and Ed.
May the rest of the year bring even more joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments for our family. Wishing you all a warm and festive holiday season!
With love,
Mike, Bre, and Nolan
